Adult Education

Adult Development is essential in providing the Girl Scout program to every girl everywhere! Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas maintains that the strength of the Girl Scout Movement rests in the voluntary leadership of its adult members.
GSNETX offers a number of adult learning opportunities which equip our adult members with the skills necessary to deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in accordance with the Volunteer Policies and Procedures of Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas and GSUSA.
Registering for Adult Learning Sessions
In order to comfortably accommodate all Girl Scout Adult Volunteers, registration prior to the course date of all sessions is required. Please also be sure to cancel your registration if you are unable to attend – see our refund policy at the end of this section for more details.
There are two (2) ways to register. Choose the method that is best for you and follow these simple steps:
REGISTER ON-LINE
1. Go to the GSNETX Member Home Page (www.gsnetx.org)
and select ‘GSNETX Calendar’ from the menu;
2. Select ‘Adult Education’ under the ‘Program Type’ pull-down
menu located at the top of the calendar and click ‘Go’;
3. Browse the calendar to find the session for which you wish to
register and click that link;
4. Follow the Adult Education Registration Form link at the
bottom of this session page;
5. Indicate your session preference(s) based on the date, times,
and locations listed in the chart and complete the registration
information;
6. Click ‘Register’ at the bottom of the page to submit your online
registration
REGISTER THROUGH FAX, MAIL, OR EMAIL
1. Obtain an Adult Education Registration Form from a
GSNETX Service Center, one of your Service Unit Team
Members, or online @ www.gsnetx.org;
2. Complete all fields on the form;
3. Fax, Mail, or Email your completed registration form along
with your payment (if applicable):

HELPFUL REGISTRATION TIPS
Be sure to use the same name with which you registered as a member. Using a different name (or nickname) other than the one with which you registered or leaving questions blank may delay your registration or result in errors on your training record.
Use a separate GSNETX Adult Education Registration Form per participant per course (except Girl Scout Sliver Award Overview, Girl Scout Gold Award Overview and Destinations sessions as explained in the note below.)
Important Note - When registering for Girl Scout Silver Award Overview, Girl Scout Gold Award Overview, or destinations sessions, use the top portion of the form to complete the information for the primary participating adult. Include all of the girls and other adults who will attend the session under the
GS Gold and Silver Overview Registration section at the bottom of the form.
CONFIRMATIONS &CANCELLATIONS
Once a course reaches minimum capacity, you will receive a course confirmation email. Your completed Adult Education Registration Form must be received at least two (2) weeks prior to the session’s date in order to receive confirmation.
If a course does not reach minimum capacity, you will receive a course cancellation email.
If you are unable to attend a session for which you register, it is your responsibility to cancel your registration. To cancel, please call the Training Registrar at the JoAnn Fogg Service Center
(9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday): (972) 349-2400.
FEES
Some courses have fees to defray expenses, e.g., room rentals, food, printed material and supplies.
Session fees must accompany your Adult Education Registration Form in order to be processed.
Fees for Girl Scout Troop Leader sessions may be paid from the Girl Scout Troop funds.
Financial Assistance is available for Girl Scout Adults to participate in any of our learning opportunities.
If requesting Financial Assistance*:
Submit a Financial Assistance Request with your completed
Adult Education Registration Form to the following address:

Requests will be approved as submitted unless the requester
is otherwise notified.
Notice of approval is sent to GSNETX’s Training Registrar at
the JoAnn Fogg Service Center in Dallas, TX.
*The Financial Assistance Committee meets monthly; please send in requests with ample time to process them.
REFUNDS FOR COURSE FEES
To cancel your registration, please call GSNETX’s Training Registrar at 972-349-2400 or 1-800-442-2260.
Fees of $5 or less are nonrefundable.
Cancelations must be made seven (7) days prior to the
beginning session date to receive a refund (less a $5 non - refundable fee).
If a cancellation less than seven (7) days is due to a medical emergency, send a written request for a refund detailing your medical emergency to the Training Registrar.
If a learning session is cancelled by Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas, an alternate date may be offered or the total fee will be refunded.
RESOURCES
It is important to bring the materials listed in the general course description with you to the session. Program publications may be available for purchase at any GSNETX shop or from our online shop. Materials may also be checked-out from one of our resource libraries located at the following GSNETX Service Centers: JoAnn Fogg, Denton, East Texas, Paris, and Southern Sector.
CHILD CARE
Child-care is not provided; however, it is appropriate to ask assistance from a Girl Scout Troop parent.
TRAINING RECORD
Upon completion of Connect with Your Girl Scout Troop or a Program Grade Level session, you may request an Adult Development Training Record Card from your session facilitator. Its purpose is to help you keep track of completed learning sessions.
GIRL SCOUT TROOP CAMP CERTIFICATION
Upon completion of a Discover Girl Scout Troop Camping, Advanced Girl Scout Troop Camping, or Girl Scout Troop Camping Recertification session(s), each participant will receive a Girl Scout Troop Camp Certification Card signed by a GSNETX Facilitator. A copy of this certificate will be required (along with other necessary supporting documentation) in order to receive approval on any GS Troop Camping Activity Notification requests.
