Girl Scout Camp: A Time-Honored Tradition

Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas offers camping programs and activities as unique as each girl. Whether it’s a true love of the great outdoors or another way for friends to get together, girls can experience the joy, fellowship and growth of Girl Scout camping.

Camping is a great way to build new skills, get a sense of community, and develop a deep appreciation for nature. Whether you go for a day, a week or longer, Girl Scout camping gives you an opportunity to grow, explore, and have fun-always under the guidance of caring, trained adults.

Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas believes in the positive impact camping creates in a girl’s life. Not only does camping provide a safe and fun-filled environment, but it empowers each girl to explore the joys of discovery, independence, and self-reliance. Camping is an environment that encourages girls to learn new skills, make life-long friends, and experience group living and compromise. It also allows girls to expand their self-confidence. Because Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas recognizes the different needs of each camper, an array of programs and activities are specially designed and offered to appeal to the interests of every girl.

Resident Camp is a camping experience in which campers stay overnight at an established Girl Scout Camp. Girls sign up as individual campers or with a buddy. The girls and their camp counselors plan activities that take advantage of the resources available at the campsite.

Exploring new challenges, becoming self-reliant, participating in fun activities, and learning to work with girls from different places and varied backgrounds are all great reasons for attending Resident Camp. Click here to go to the 2009 GSNETX Summer Camp website.

Day and Twilight Camps are perfect for first-time campers and are provided at sites throughout our jurisdiction for girls completing grades K-12. Girls may sign up as individual campers, or with a buddy, and are placed in units based on their Girl Scout program grade level (Girl Scout Brownie, Girl Scout Junior, etc.). Trained camp volunteers are assigned to each unit to help girls experience varied outdoor programs. Click here to go to GSNETX Day website.

Girl Scout Troop/Group Camp is a camping experience of 24 or more consecutive hours, planned and carried out by a group of girls and their Girl Scout Leaders. Click on the tabs above for more information about Girl Scout Troop/Group Camp!
